On March 3, 1972, NASA launched Pioneer 10 to explore our solar system and beyond. Attached to its antenna support was a plaque, which is possibly the most ambitious piece of visual communication ever conceived.
The Pioneer Plaque shows when Pioneer 10 was launched, from where, and by what kind of beings, to extraterrestrials who might encounter it.
PINTRILL and DuaneKing are excited to bring back the original "Message from Earth" by producing a limited edition pin of the Pioneer Plaque.
The Library of Congress is the largest library in the world containing collections ranging from American History to World Politics to Carl Sagan. The Seth MacFarlane Collection of the Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan Archive consists of over 1,700 boxes of material from throughout Sagan's life.
Box 417 contains Sagan's personal archives of the Pioneer Project. Within, are the original Pioneer Plaque sketches and orders—along with Sagan's Pioneer Plaque pin in gold and black enamel.
Because we are all made of star stuff—we are proud to release our version of Sagan's pin.
