JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT

Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) was an American artist of Haitian and Puerto Rican descent. He emerged from the underground art scene in New York City in the late 1970s, and quickly gained recognition for this distinctive style and use of social commentary. Basquiat's work explored themes of race, identity, and class, and his legacy continues to inspire and influence contemporary art today.
